Question posted in the General Law category relating to Western Cape
Hi
I work at a school kitchen in Cape Town. A student has contracted the COVID-19 disease. The health department has visited the school. They have checked who has had contact with the sick child and have not recommended that anyone in the kitchen be quarantined.
My employer, the catering company, has decided that myself and my colleagues must take quarantine, although we have recieved no advice from a medical professional that we must. They claim that we must take this quarantine as either paid or unpaid leave and that we cannot use our sick leave.
Is it legal for them to force us to take unpaid leave for a quarantine that they are forcing us to take?
Thanks
