Question posted in the Family Law category relating to Western Cape
I have been trying to pursue a surname change - and have been declined due to insufficient reasoning. I have been informed that the only ways a woman is allowed to change her surname is by marriage or divorce - which is so ridiculous in 2022.
There is legal prescident for my case so I can pursue - but every law firm I've approached demands a retainer of R20k which is quite a bit for something this small.
Would love to get a third opinion before selling my kidney.
