Question posted in the General Law category relating to Gauteng

Good day, my husband is 60 years old and is working in the manufacturing industry.  He has worked on a special permit for essential services from the 5th of May.  The employer however has this morning informed him that he is not allowed to work because of the fact that he is 60 (due to Covid 19).  They also said that they would not pay him for the days that he has worked this month.  Is this acceptable and is it stipulated as a law that he is not allowed to work.  Our interpretation from what the President said last night is that "you should ideally work from home" which in this case is not possible.  What are we to do?

Kind regards
